Engineering recruitment process at DEPT®
Today is the day. You have applied or you are about to. The recruitment process is starting – this process is one of getting to know each other, and of seeing if we are a match for one another. We would love to learn more about your ambitions, skills and competencies, and want to tell you more about what we do and who we are. So, what’s to follow? Here’s a step-by-step overview.
The five-step recruitment journey
Submit your application
The first step is to check our carriers page and send your application to one of our openings! One of our recruiters will be assigned to you in order to carefully review it before getting back to you.
We set up the talent interview
Once your application looks like a good fit, the recruiter will set up a hangouts video call to check in with you. In this call you get to tell us more about your motivation and ambitions. You’ll also learn more about us, our benefits and the next steps of the recruitment process.
First tech screening
Moving forward on the process, the objective of this interview is to gain insights into candidate’s experience working with teams, methodologies, distribution processes and mentorship as well as overall technical capabilities. Also, it is a very good opportunity to learn how our engineering teams are organized, working methodologies and any other thing you are interested to learn from us from a tech perspective. During this instance you will not be required to complete any exercise.
Coding challenge
This exercise can be performed both as a home-assignment (with a subsequent short interview to discuss the results) or we can schedule an interview where the colleagues of your potential future team will present the challenge and be there with you as you live-work on it. The objective of this instance is to define whether the candidate’s code is clean and someone that can be integrated into/ work and share code with on a team. Here, the technical interview will analyze the candidate’s software architecture knowledge, their ability to manage time efficiently and communicate/explain their reasoning effectively.
