Digital agency DEPT® is collaborating with Rotterdam Festivals and entertainment agency Tribe Company to create a groundbreaking virtual experience; the first of its kind in the history of the Eurovision Song Contest. The custom-made 3D world will bring the tens of thousands of visitors, who would normally have travelled to Rotterdam for the contest, a unique, virtual experience.

Fans from all over the globe can immerse themselves in the vibrancy of Eurovision without leaving the comfort of their sofas. A more accessible front-seat experience has opened the song contest and the social gatherings surrounding it to a wider, more diverse audience to celebrate together, day and night. The programme of events includes crowd-pullers such as Johnny Logan, Afrojack, and the Junior Song Festival.

Renske Satijn, Director of Rotterdam Festivals: “We are extremely proud of the very first online Eurovision Village and the versatile programme. Everyone is welcome, and we are open 24/7, free of charge. I am happy that with the help of a next-level event experience it is also possible to give visitors a festival feeling through a mix of performances, tours and content that you won’t want to miss. It is a special project, and one that we were able to accomplish at a rapid pace together with the DEPT® and Tribe Company team.”

The 3D festival map is designed for an international audience to meet each other, enjoy performances, dance together and get make-up tips to complete their best Eurovision look. The festival’s electric atmosphere will transfer through as party-goers can virtually cruise Rotterdam, wander through iconic places, and feel the vibe of the city.

“Since Corona, we have started to focus more on magical, virtual event solutions that really connect people,” says Dimi Albers, CEO at DEPT®. “For example, we organised our own virtual festival, built the digital inspiration day for bol.com, and an online campus for Avans University of Applied Sciences. Eurovision Village with millions of viewers is proof that with big thinking, even the most legendary events can be transformed into digital.” Niel van Hoff, CEO of Tribe Company, adds: “After livestream events for the general public like ‘De Vrienden van Amstel LIVE’ and ‘The Streamers’, we have focused further on the experience and the possibilities to bring offline events to life using technology.”

Discover the virtual 2021 Eurovision Village at www.eurovisionvillage.com from 15 to 23 May. It’ll be a one-of-a-kind event you don’t want to miss! Bookmark the site to enjoy all of the performances and live-action throughout the festival.
